photographer. Joined international newsroom of women to produce the daily conference newspaper.
1987-1988 Exhibit: Museum For the City of New York; “ On Being Homeless; Historical
Perspectives” Photos displayed next to those of photographer Jacob Riis.
1987 UNICEF ; “ International Appeal for Ethiopia” ; Commissioned to photograph the
Sudanese famine. Photos later included in international exhibitions and
on the front page of The New York Times.

1985 Exhibition: Bennington College Art Gallery ; “ We the Homeless, Portraits of America’s
Displaced People”
1989 UNICEF ; “ Children On the Front Line”; Commissioned to visually document the effect of apartheid on the children of the front line nations of Southern Africa. Photos included in numerous international exhibitions and publications.

“ Bridging New York” Panoramic images of New York City bridges taken while climbing them
1990 Ford Foundation ; “ Innovations In State and Public Government” Print publication
and slideshow photographed over three weeks in eight states across America.
1990 Fulbright Sr. Research Fellowship in Art Photography; The Fulbright funded the first
two, of four trips lasting three months each, to live with and photograph the cliffdwelling
Dogon. Completed work published as book : Dogon, Africa’s People of the Cliff
1991 Exhibition; South Street Seaport Museum Melville Gallery; New York City;
“ Dropping The Hook”; Medium format portraits of retired mariners from Sailor’s Snug
Harbor, Sea Level, North Carolina
1991 Manilaaq Tribal Council; “ Walking In Two Worlds With One Spirit” ; At the request of
Alaska’s Manilaaq elders, traveled to the Arctic three times to photograph elders for
tribal archives and document Inupiat whaling and traditional subsistence culture.
1993- Exhibition: UN General Assembly Public Lobby Main Gallery ; “No War Anymore”
Five photos included in this show on children of war which toured internationally.

1995 United Nations; “ International Decade Conference For Women: Beijing” (Beijing,
China) Official photographer. Re- joined international newsroom of women from 1985
conference to produce conference printed daily newspaper in completely digital domain.
1997 CBS TeleNoticias; “ La Generacion Dos Mil” ( Based in Miami ) Recruited to produce
pilot television series as a solo video-journalist. Over three months produced, filmed
and reported segments as one person team in Central and South America, working
completely in Spanish.
1996 Ford Foundation “ People of the Flood” ( Dakka, Bangladesh) Sent by as Consultant
on video project
1997 CNN International; Sent to Peru to produce 6 stories as one person team, one of
the first to do so. Also worked sent to Columbia and Peru as producer on breaking
news stories.
2000 ABC Nightline; “ Dr. Torstveist’s Vacation” Produced 20-minute segment in Sri Lanka
as one person team.
2000; Harry N. Abrams Inc.; Book: “Dogon, Africa’s Dwellers Along the Cliff” 246-page

2003 Exhibition: United Nations Public Lobby Gallery; “ In Celebration of Indigenous
People”( New York City, NY) Photos of Inupiat Included with five other photographers in
this group exhibition.
2006 World Health Organization; “ Fever Zone” Completed extensive multimedia
reportage on the scourge of malaria with funding from The World Health Organization.
Traveled to Cambodia, Malawi and Tanzania.
2007 Exhibition: South Street Seaport SDCA Space; “We Cover the Waterfront”; ( New
York City, NY ) Large scale photographs of retired mariners included in group show.
2007 “ Crossing Media” Maintained a blog on multimedia storytelling which can be viewed
